The Content Exchange (CEX) is a pilot feature that we're rolling out to LemonadeLXP! Use it to share Steps you've authored with other users, or to download helpful content others have written!
From the author's perspective
Publishing content you've authored is straightforward! Log into your LemonadeLXP admin area, access Author > Steps, and edit your Step.
At the top, near the "Retire" and "Test Play" buttons you are familiar with, you will see a new button: "Content Exchange". Click it to share this content with the rest of the LemonadeLXP admin community! Please read through the modal's contents very carefully before sharing.
Q. If I publish, how do I delete it?
Publishing is a one-way street, because others may have already downloaded the content from the cloud. The relationship between their LemonadeLXP installation and your "source content" must be preserved. We'll integrate "deprecation" features in the future, as the CEX matures.
Q. If I edit my step and publish again, what happens?
Publishing a second time is how you post updates!
Q. I can't share all types of steps?
That's intentional. Some steps don't make sense, such as StepLinkListener, which requires programming, and StepHuman, built to connect users within an organization. We've also excluded StepYoutube to protect you since an author could swap the video at the source.
We are still in the process of implementing StepDemo's share mechanisms. This one is on the roadmap.
Downloading Content
To benefit from CEX, visit Author > Content Exchange. There, you will see a listing of all content published on the CEX.
Hover over a card to see the Preview and Install controls.
When you install content, the Step will move to your Author > Steps area, ready to be imported into your Courses.
Q. Can I edit the Step after I download it?
Yes! You'll also want to set optional information, such as highlights. Know, however, that if you update the step from the Content Exchange later on, that your edits may be overwritten.
Q. Can I test play before installing?
No. Some Step types require compiled entities to work. We've added a preview mechanism to let you get a glimpse into what the step contains. If this isn't sufficient, you can download the Step, and then Test Play as usual. If you don't like it, you can Retire and Delete the Step after that.
